Interschool Frankley vs Woodleigh

On Thursday the 7 of June Frankley school played Woodleigh for interschool. The Frankley school rugby team, Netball A and B teams played as did the soccer team but the hockey team didn't play as Woodleigh couldn't bring a Hockey team.

The scores were:
Rugby 50-0 to Frankley, Netball A 20-5 to Frankley, Netball B 11-6 to Frankley and  the Football was 3-0 to Woodleigh. The games were hard but Frankley got 3 wins and Woodliegh 1.

So far our rugby team is undefeated whilst both the Football and Netball team are on track to make the semi finals. Go Frankley!!!!

Frankley Yellow Sticks 26 May

The Yellow Sticks had a really good game on Saturday against Spotswood Blades 7-0 to us.  We had lots of space on the field which was really good to see (We had been working really hard at this in training). Jacob, William and Corban have been invited to join and train with the U11 boys team. These guys along with Karis, Alana and Katie in the U11 girls squad mean we have some really talented Hockey players at Frankley - something we should all be proud of.

BlueSticks Saturday 19th

The Frankley BlueSticks are working hard in their division at the moment. Highlight of the weekends game was the goal by Molly!

Frankley Spurs v Mangorei

Phew what a close game against Mangorei this week. The Spurs won
18-16. It was great to see all the team putting in an awesome effort -
we had some amazing defence going on, nice clean steals and good break
aways. Once again we are improving with our team play, which is just
great to see. Bring on next week and lets put another smile on our faces.

YellowSticks vs Welbourn

Saturday 19th May
Frankley Yellowsticks dominated Welbourn today. William with 2 goals and Jacob being as elusive as ever were standouts whilst Ashlee went close on a number of occasions - her efforts earning her the Player of the Day award.

Interschool vs Spotswood

On Thursday the 17 of May Spotswood Primary came to Frankley for the second Interschool challenge of 2012.
Our Hockey side started things off with a hard fought 3 all draw. A late goal from Phoebe - her first in the Frankley colours ensured both schools remained on even ground in the overall challenge stakes. This was a great performance considering U11 reps Katie and Karis were playing Netball in this challenge. This was also the first official game of Hockey on our new "tiger turf" court.
Our Netball B side were all class winning 19-0. This was their second comfortable victory in this competition in a row and certainly bodes well for future inter school challenges.
Our Football team won 3 - 0 making it 2 from 2 for them this season. Whilst our playing field is somewhat smaller than a normal field our Frankley team were still able to create and find enough space to score at even intervals throughout the match.
Our Rugby team won 41 - 5 also making it 2 from 2. Oliver was strong running the ball back from kicks using his right hand fend to good effect whilst Jake was committed to tackling low and cleaning out rucks every minute he was on the field.
Netball A got off the mark in this competition and are now looking good to make the semi finals. The victory was comfortable and reward for the handwork the girls have been putting into training recently.

Also of note was the way the Frankley students hosted their counterparts. Speeches by Katie, Stella, William, Ben and Phoebe were outstanding. Each speaker showed that they understood how the game was won and lost, noticed players on their own side and the opposition who performed well, were humble in victory and thanked the refs by name. The ability to do this indicated that each speaker is becoming a well rounded sporting leader.

The mingling of players after the game was quite special with players content to sit and chat with their opponents and showed again the power that sport has in bringing people together. Photos coming soon.

Golfing Guru's

Check out the next Rory McElroy and Bubba Watson. Harry and Josh went to the Taranaki Primary Schools Golf tournament recently. They were paired with two lads from Normanby School named Bronson and Coby. According to local golf enthusiast Pam, both lads hit the ball straight often whilst putting was challenging but most holes putted within 3 puts. Final score Bronson 56, Josh 57, Harry 62 and Coby 68.
In this photo they are striking a typical pose they often use whilst watching their ball sail down the fairway. Good on you lads, great effort.

Swimming Champs

Here is a photo of our swimming champs from term one. Whilst this happened a while ago it is still worth a look. Congratulations to them all. Excellence in swimming requires loads of discipline.

Frankley Leasures

Frankley Leasures claimed their first victory of the season with a hard earned 24-20 victory over Fitzroy. Coach Fleming was delighted with the improvements shown by all players and feels that the team now has a grasp of how to play the game. Kenzie was often in the right place at the right time, Jack's left hand dribble is proving to be a valuble attacking weapon and William, again, was a colossus on defence. Onwards and upwards from here.

Basketball - Frankley Nowells

Frankley Nowells put in a commanding performance on Monday night, adding further claims to their genuine title contender title. A win by over 50 points has set some very high expectations for the season. Look out for the Frankley Nowells come the business end of the season!

Hockey - Frankley Yellowsticks

Frankley Yellowsticks went down on the weekend but put in a brave effort. On the plus side Katie, Karis and Alana have been invited to train with the Taranaki Under 11 squad for this winter. Thats outstanding and something to be very proud of!

Most of the Yellowsticks will be facing off against Spotswood on Thursday at 12:45. Come and check them out!

Frankkley Spurs

Another awesome game played by Frankley Spurs.  Was a fast game with
both teams fighting hard for the ball.  Frankley played well using full
court and passing to their team mates.  This is Kyle's only ever
second game of miniball and he just started to warm up in the second
half, was in there defending well and making clean snatches of the ball
from Fitzroy - well done Kyle, you were just starting to get your
miniball skills flowing then the whistle blew for full time.

Sorry I did not keep score this week, was too puffed running up and down
the court, but it was a close one.  Our skills and team play are
improving every week so our next game should be another good one.

Frankley Nowells basketball

On Monday the 7 of May Frankley Nowells played basketball at the TSB stadium. We played vogeltown and we won 32-6. Taylor got the most shots in whilst Oliver nearly got a 3 pointer.

Frankley Leasures basketball

On May the 7 Monday Frankley Leasures lost their second grading game last night. Coach Stephen
felt the team showed a huge improvement from the week before and that
Grace in particular was the biggest improver as she was really keen to get
involved and was great on defence. At practice we will be working on
passing to the player who is open and with rebounding.
